Malaysians are increasingly cautious of the future. – survey
KUALA LUMPUR – A bi-annual national survey conducted by KAJIDATA Research suggests that most Malaysians are still very much concerned with the future of the economic situation in Malaysia.
The survey revealed that 84.2% out of the 1,039 Malaysians surveyed are very worried with the future of Malaysia’s economy. This is a steady 1.1% increase compared to the recorded 82% in August 2016 and 83.1% in February 2017 who said that they were worried in a similar surveys completed by KAJIDATA Research.
The study also gauged that 83.9% of the respondents are concerned about employment and 72.0% are concerned with national security. This represents an unhealthy 12.9% and 17.4% increase respectively; compared to the last survey.
KAJIDATA Advisor, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid indicated that the results ties closely to how Malaysians plan their future. 25.7% opted to travel abroad for holidays, 22.7% are planning to buy or invest in properties, 19.5% are looking to purchase automobiles and only 17.3% are contemplating on changing their jobs. Nonetheless, with 27.6% of the respondents stating that they are planning to start or expand their families. In general, these percentages have increased compared to the last study.
The opinion poll was carried out by KAJIDATA Research Sdn. Bhd. The poll was conducted from 27 July 2017 to 4 August 2017 to ascertain issues that are viewed as concerns by Malaysians.
A total of 1,039 Malaysian adults aged 21 and above comprising of 54.7% Malays, 24.6% Chinese, 7.3% Indians, 5.4% Bumiputra Sabah, 6.8% Bumiputra Sarawak, 0.6% Orang Asli and 0.6% Others were interviewed by telephone in the poll. Respondents were selected on the basis of random stratified sampling along ethnicity, gender, age and state according to the national demographics. Majority of Malaysians are still cautious of the future.
KUALA LUMPUR – A bi-annual national survey conducted by KAJIDATA Research suggests that most Malaysians are still concerned with the future of the economic situation in Malaysia.
The survey revealed that 83.1% out of the 1,031 Malaysians surveyed are worried with the future of Malaysia’s economy. This is a slight increase compared to 82% (+1.1%) who said that they were worried in a similar study completed by KAJIDATA Research 6 months ago.
The study also gauged that 71.1% of the respondents are concerned about employment and 54.6% are concerned with national security. This represents a 1.9% and 18% drop respectively; compared to the last survey.

Nonetheless, with 27.2% of the respondents stating that they are planning to start or expand their families, this is an increase of 3.2% compared to the last study.

LEVEL OF CONCERN ON THE FUTURE OF MALAYSIA’S
Malaysians are cautious of the future.
KUALA LUMPUR – A bi-annual national survey conducted by KAJIDATA Research suggests that most Malaysians are concerned with the future of the economic situation in Malaysia.
The survey also gauged the rakyat’s level of confidence in facing challenges in the near future with (66.8%) Malaysians saying they are confident and (33.2%) saying otherwise.
KAJIDATA Advisor, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid indicated that the results showed that Malaysians have a cautious outlook even with 66.8% of the rakyat are saying they are confident in facing challenges in the future. This was demonstrated when 82% of the people are saying that they are concerned with the economic situation in Malaysia, 73% worried about employment availability and 72.6% are concerned with national security.
The results ties closely to how Malaysians plan their future. 29% will travel abroad for holidays, 19% are planning to buy or invest in properties, 17% are planning to purchase automobiles, 14% are looking to change their jobs and 24% are planning to start or expand their families.
As a conclusion Malaysians are realists but as proud Malaysians, they are confident that Malaysia will prevail as a strong nation.
